Purienne | Zen

Zen is a photography book by Henrik Purienne, created in collaboration with Antwerp artist Caroline Helsen.

Published by IDEA in 2025, Zen explores swim forms, summer moods, ritual objects and ancient adornments through Purienne's distinctive visual language. Combining fashion, portraiture and lifestyle imagery, the book presents a sensual and atmospheric vision of summer, bodies and contemporary culture.

The book brings together Purienne's intimate approach to photography with Caroline Helsen's artistic universe, creating a visual world inspired by swimwear, natural forms, ritual and the aesthetics of summer.

Zen is presented as a minimalist photographic object, printed on hand-selected 100% recycled paper. The book comes protected by a removable tracing-paper sleeve and shrink-wrapped plastic film. Natural variations in the recycled paper, including inclusions, marks and irregularities, are part of the book's wabi-sabi aesthetic.
