OXY-ACE & RS6 by Pouria Khojastehpay is a conceptual publication examining the phenomenon of explosive ATM robberies carried out by organized crime groups in the Netherlands and Germany.
Presented through the visual language of a mail-order catalogue, the book transforms objects associated with these crimes into a series of conceptual “products.” Each item is accompanied by a short text exploring its role within the broader narrative of the robberies.
The title OXY-ACE & RS6 refers to three elements associated with the early generation of explosive ATM raids. Rather than functioning as an instructional manual, the publication approaches the subject as a visual and cultural document, examining the aesthetics, methods and mythology surrounding organized crime.
The book also includes an essay examining the M.O. (modus operandi) of the gangs, placing the phenomenon within the wider European context. In October 2022, Europol highlighted the significant rise of explosive ATM attacks across Europe, describing the phenomenon as “The Modern Bank Robbery.”
A provocative artist publication combining photography, graphic design, documentary research and contemporary visual culture.
