5 BIS accompanies Charlotte Gainsbourg’s photographic exhibition presented at Les Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles 2026, followed by a second presentation at Saint Laurent Rive Droite Paris in September.

Conceptualized by Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent Éditions, the book presents Charlotte Gainsbourg’s first major photographic project, offering an intimate exploration of the house of Serge Gainsbourg — a place that was also her home.

With her Hasselblad camera, Gainsbourg explores the rooms, objects and creative spaces shaped by memory. Her photographs are accompanied by handwritten texts, creating an intimate dialogue between image, place and recollection.

The book’s distinctive cover, featuring a framed image revealed through a die-cut opening, echoes the visual language of the exhibition. Its square format recalls the photographic prints displayed in the exhibition while subtly evoking the dimensions of a vinyl record, creating a connection with Gainsbourg’s parallel career as a singer, songwriter and composer.

A significant contemporary photography book and a compelling document of Charlotte Gainsbourg’s personal and artistic relationship with the legendary Gainsbourg house.
